Thom Shepherd – Back in Texas!

Happy Sunday y’all!

Wanted to let you know that Coley and I have decided to get off the road full time and put down some roots (temporarily) until we take off for Idaho in June. We are back in Austin for the next few months! That doesn’t mean that the show schedule is slowing down – we still have shows booked just about every week. (In March alone I’ll be traveling to California, Arizona, Washington and Montana) But we have decided to stay in Austin during the week and travel mostly on weekends. It’s difficult to get all the behind the scenes work done that it takes to make musical careers happen when you’re traveling nearly every day. Coley will be doing fewer shows with me, but is VERY excited to be giving her Rodan + Fields Skin Care business her full attention. She is truly a #bossbabe and I support her 100%.

My next show in Texas is this Friday at Western Edge Cellars in Fredericksburg, TX.

This weekend we did an event called Helicopters for Heroes which takes wounded veterans hunting in Ennis, TX. We got to open for the legendary Bellamy Brothers on Friday night. Thanks to Matt Ayres, Philip Brooks and Jake Crownover for inviting us to be a part of this very special event. The show was great, they played about two hours of nothing but hits, from “Let Your Love Flow” to “Redneck Girl” to “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would you Hold It Against Me”

At the show I met a young veteran named Tyler and he said he had never heard of me, so he and his wife looked me up on YouTube. I can’t tell you how many times people have told me they found my music or learned more about me on YouTube. Aside from our “American Dreamers On The Road” series, I haven’t done much with my Thom Shepherd channel in about two years. But all that is about to change!

YouTube pays the creators of content, but only if you are monetized. Their new rules say that you have to have 1000 subscribers and 4000 viewing hours per year, or your channel can’t be monetized. In today’s tough musical economy, we can use every income stream we can get. So I’m asking you to subscribe to my YouTube channel. If just 20% of the people who get this email subscribe, I will be over 1000 subscribers. And stay tuned because I’m about to start generating a lot of new content on YouTube! Everything from  travel vlogs, behind the scenes stuff, and the stories behind my songs. I currently have 520 subscribers and about 850 hours watched in the past year. So watch some videos too!

Lone Star Luau 2 was a huge success! We still can’t believe how great it turned out. Plans for Lone Star Luau 3 are currently in the works. I will let you know when advance tickets go on sale.

And here is a comprehensive review of LSL2 from Texas Outside!

Our next big event is Tubes ‘n Tunes in New Braunfels, TX June 1-3. This one is also in the works and tickets will be available soon. This year we will have a special VIP ticket and our Friday night headliner at River Road Icehouse will be the fabulous Tejas Brothers!
